At NP-Art, we believe your tattoo journey begins before the needle touches the skin and continues long after the session ends. After your appointment, dedicated aftercare ensures your tattoo heals cleanly, maintains its integrity, and looks vibrant for years to come. Our comprehensive guidance — built on years of professional experience — gives you the tools and knowledge to support your artwork every step of the way.
Tattoo Care

Pre-Care (before your session)
Set yourself up for a smooth appointment and faster healing.
-
Hydrate: well for 24–48 hours before. Well-hydrated skin is easier to work with and can support healing. Pair this with balanced, low-inflammatory meals.
-
Avoid Alcohol: for at least 24 hours beforehand. Alcohol can thin the blood and increase bleeding during tattooing.
-
Avoid blood-thinning meds/supplements: when possible. Ask your clinician about aspirin/NSAIDs, vitamin E, ginkgo, etc., and follow medical advice.
-
Rest & eat well: Get a solid night’s sleep and eat a nutritious meal the day of your appointment.
-
Moisturize daily: Do this for at least a week prior. It makes the skin better.
-
Protect your skin: No sunburns, tanning, or harsh exfoliation for at least a week prior. Lightly moisturize; arrive with clean skin.
-
Exercise timing: Avoid heavy workouts right before your session; elevated body temp/sweat can make skin more reactive.
-
Schedule Smart: Women may experience more sensitivity during their menstrual cycle, so consider booking around it if possible.
-
Comfort Counts: Bring the basics. snacks/water, and comfortable clothing that exposes the tattoo area, even a pillow.
Aftercare (healing your new tattoo)
Caring for your new tattoo is key to long-term results.
Using Saniderm (Second Skin)
-
Leave the bandage on for 3–5 days (the longer, the better).
-
Showering is fine with the bandage on, but do not soak, swim, or submerge.
-
Remove gently in the shower, peeling it slowly under lukewarm water. Peel the film back over itself, not straight up.
Once the bandage is removed (or no skin film is used)
-
Wash gently with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat dry.
-
Let the tattoo fully dry, then apply a thin layer of Reborn Aftercare ointment from our shop.
-
Repeat 2–3x daily with clean hands — don’t over-apply.
-
Avoid scratching or picking as the tattoo flakes and peels naturally.
-
Keep it clean and covered: Wear loose clothing and avoid direct sun.
-
No swimming, baths, or soaking until fully healed (2–3+ weeks).
-
Ease back into exercise: Light activity is fine after a few days, but avoid heavy sweating or strain until the tattoo is healed.

Your tattoo deserves care as unique as its design. Follow these steps, trust the process, and enjoy your art for years to come.
